Netflix's recent release presents about teenage love who is not only involved in infatuations but also has a high aspiration in their life. The six episodes series aims to show the balancing act of love life and how far can they go to chase their dreams?

The story begins when Dimple Ahuja’s (Prajakta Kohli) mom gives her verbal doses of instructions about makeup and dresses. She feels so helpless and like a typical 90’s drama, she is seen on the screen colouring her lips with different shades of lipstick. Well, Dimple’s mother likes this version of her daughter but somewhere deep down inside there’s a true and honest Dimple Ahuja who absolutely does not know how to allure a boy being just only 17. She is a gamer and wants to mark her name in the coding world. She wants to see her name in the sky. But it's not that easy for her to achieve what she aspires to. She belongs to a simple middle class family from Ambala and like every parent, her mother wants her to settle in life, get married early or what not.

Mismatched is not only about the anecdotes of Dimple Ahuja, there are five more fighters in the queue. They also want to find the true meaning of life. Some enjoy it to the fullest and some struggles with the physical trauma. But, Rishi Singh Shekhawat (Rohit Saraf) lives in his own world. He believes in absolutely traditional romance. Rishi takes all the burden of his family after his parents got separated. Rishi does have an ambition in the animation world but he pursues this as a hobby. His final destination is to indulge in true and pure love, ‘no dating apps wala pyaar’.

Things take a turn when Dimple gets selected in her dream college in Jaipur. She is finally happy that she can get a break from her mother’s uncanny monologue about marriage. Not just Dimple wants to live her dream but other aspirants also come to try their luck in love and life. Everyone has their own flaws, high dreams, passion and more. But Rishi has come to take her future wife home. Seemingly witty, when he makes his entry saying in a very confident voice to Dimple, ‘hello future wife’, well that takes this matter one step ahead and she throws a coffee right on his face.

Throughout the entire series, all the characters go through various emotions that one has to deal with, especially as a teenager. From getting involved to some funny moments to fights to some ‘izzat pe aai baat wali’ competitions. Mismatched takes us back to our teenage and college life.

There’s saying that accept your flaw/s with an open heart but who believes in it when it comes to reality. Director Akarsh Khurana and Nipun Dharmadhikari show the college romance in a very 90’s filmic way. The pink city Jaipur's beauty is something that one should praise for. Not so wow factor, all the characters expressions more or less are the same in this episodic drama. If you have fukra panti time and missing your old college days then you guys can give it a try. Most of the girls can relate their life with Dimple and start reminiscing about their college romance. As far as acting is concerned, all the characters performed exactly the way they were told to, without putting extra effort.

In the time of dating apps, hookups and all, mismatched is absolutely an old school collection that preaches you some life lessons but it all depends upon you what’s your take away from this college romance genre.
